About the Pastor°..
Rev. Karl M. Thomas' path to the ministry began at the tender age of 7 when he became a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Simsboro, LA. It was there that he began singing in the choir and became Junior Deacon. He eventually served as Adult Men Sunday School Teacher and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent. Although Rev. Thomas felt a calling upon his life at an early age, he accepted his call to the Ministry in April of 1999 at Second Missionary Baptist Church of Columbia, MO under the tutelage of then Pastor Dr. Donald Ray McNeal. At Second Baptist, Karl served as Young Adult Sunday School teacher and Worship Leader.
In March 2002 he was called to Pastor Saint John White Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery City, Missouri were he humbly served until November 2006. Rev. Thomas served as Associate Pastor of Urban Empowerment Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Lester Woods Jr. and Co-Pastor Christine Woods. At Urban Empower Ministries Rev. Thomas labored in the areas of Evangelism, Economic Development, and the Creative Arts Ministry. In March 2007 Rev. Thomas was called to Pastor Second Missionary Baptist Church of Mexico, Missouri. There the Lord has continued to bless Pastor Thomas and his ministry as a preacher, leader, teacher, motivator, and life changer. He also serves as Executive Secretary of Mount Carmel Baptist District Association and Auxiliaries, On-Call Chaplain for University Hospital, Women's and Children's Hospital, and Boone Hospital. Also Rev. Thomas has been a speaker and presenter for Columbia Public Schools, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and Women's Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional and various churches throughout the nation.
Rev. Thomas has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Grambling State University and attended graduate school at the University of Missouri-Columbia currently Karl is completing a Master's Degree in Ministry Leadership, at Crown College. He has been employed with the University Hospital & Clinics as a Medical Technologist for 24 years. Rev. Thomas is the proud father of 18-year-old Mahogany Savoy Thomas and 7-year-old Langston Isaiah Thomas. They reside in Columbia.
